“Okay, PWCW, there is a stack of stuff you should know about the latest goings on with the Prince William County Arts Council (www.pwcartscouncil.org):
• The Arts Council is relaunching the Kathleen K. Seefeldt Awards for Arts Excellence. I’m not telling you how to live your life, but filling out nomination forms is a good time; the Seefeldt Nomination Form is available at www.pwcartscouncil.org.
• The Arts Council is collaborating on three street festivals in the coming days:
The Woodbridge Alive! festival is a collaboration between the Arts Council and Northern Virginia Community College – Woodbridge. The event is Saturday, April 30th from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM on the NVCC-Woodbridge campus. The Gallery Walk festival is a collaboration between the Arts Council and Historic Manassas, Inc. The event is Friday, May 6th from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Artists will do their things on the closed-off streets of and embedded in various shops and restaurants in Old Town Manassas. Come for the art, shops, and dining; stay for the post Gallery Walk #drank.
The third street festival will be Summerfest, a collaboration between the Arts Council and the Clearbrooke Foundation on Saturday, June 18th from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Tacketts Mill. We’ll have artists and food trucks and a beer garden. The event features the crowning of the Prince William County Poet Laureate.
And speaking of crowning a Poet Laureate, if you’re handier with a keyboard (for writing) than you are with a keyboard (for musicking), consider applying to become the County’s Poet Laureate. The Arts Council’s efforts resulted in Prince William having the first County-wide Poet Laureate in Virginia. Maybe the next one should be you.
