Writers and Wannabe Writers!
Are you enjoying these snippets along with me? This short activity is brain-teasing, gets the creative juices flowing, and starts each day with something other than your same ole’ thoughts revolving endlessly in your head!
I hope more of you will join us in the #vss365 (very short stories – 365 days a year) #prompt (the word you use when you create a Twitter-sized response in poetry or prose) challenges on Twitter! It’s for everyone – from people who’ve never written poems or prose before all the way to real Pros!
You can write something humorous, elegant, scary, or abstruse – whatever you want to do will work! People don’t usually do this, but you can submit more than one entry per #prompt word. You don’t have to add photos, but I love color and images, so I usually choose to use them.
Many Definitions Make Things Interesting
Today’s word is “sliver.” It can mean anything from a sliver (piece) of pie to a painful sliver (splinter) of wood stuck in your finger or foot, and it has many more word usages. It’s also the name of a film. Wikipedia lists:

A DARK NIGHT
The silver sliver
Reassures me I’m not blind
And the earth lives still.

The angels did it
From full speed to sudden stop
A sliver betwixt
(Note: not all of my #vss365 #prompt posts are autobiographical! For example, I rarely drink alcoholic beverages. However and happily, I have experienced Divine Intervention in auto travails.)

As a child,
How I loved

This is an example of how one can use more than the allotted Twitter characters to create a work. I put the words onto an image that I created in a PowerPoint slide, and then I converted the slide into a JPEG and PNG format. Afterward, I could have made a video out of it also. I can teach you how to do that, too. It is among my basic classes for people who are beginners in computer use. Click Here to learn more. See what it looks like below the text, which follows here.
When the Chinese
Invaded Tibet,
It sent the Dali Lama and others fleeing
To other countries,
So sad, and yet,
It enabled Tibetan Buddhism
To be spread far and wide
Like dandelion seeds,
Enriching new cultures.

For some, there are bleached bones left on the earth’s surface by a pack of animals.
For others ~ a pine box in a cemetery.
For a few, there are mausoleums ensconced within the walls
Of a Necropolis where burial chambers are fit for kings.
Does it really matter?
