My Persuasive Presentations is presenting classes in how to do this kind of art as a tool for easing stress from things like natural disasters, war-induced PTSD, life traumas and physical abuse. The technique helps reduce stress related to child-rearing, work/life balance, career challenges, severe anxiety following chemotherapy and diagnoses of illness, etc. In other words, whether the tension is large or small, chronic or acute, this outlet might help bring peace to your spirit, and you don’t have to know a thing about art  to do it!

Our instructor, Michelle Keeley, says, she “quickly fell in love with the technique because it required me to stay in the moment to focus on each stroke. I’ve got to say there have been many days when I came home from work totally stressed out, picked up my pen and got so lost in a pattern that the worries fell away, or a resolution came to mind once i completed a drawing session. “

Zentangle | Zen Doodle Is About LIFE

Michelle says, “Zentangle has a “rule” that no eraser is allowed, which forces you to be creative with the occasional “oops. The zen connection here is that there is no eraser in life, so no eraser is used with Zentangle.”

There is just something magical that happens when you are focused on repetitive patterns and the results are truly amazing, even folks who feel they have no artistic ability are able to produce satisfying and beautiful works.

Michelle Can Teach You How To Zentangle | Zen Doodle

If you want to learn Zentangle and can attend one of our two classes on April 19th (3:30 – 5:30 and 6:30 – 8:30) in Manassas, VA, you can RSVP on my Meet Your Self! website now.  However, Michelle also can teach this class again “on her own.”

Zentangle ArtOne of Michelle’s teachers was a Connecticut woman, who had worked with the teachers, students, and parents recovering from the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting. Hearing how her teaching was helping that community work through their grief inspired Michelle to want to work with people who were going through their own traumatic life experiences like PTSD, stroke, and cancer. Michelle learned a lot from books, as well as YouTube videos along, with lots and lots of practice. However, she finally was able to get into one of the rarely offered certification classes.

Zentangle Art“Becoming a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT) has been a goal of mine since I first heard about it 2 years ago. There are only a couple of certification classes each year They are held in Providence, Rhode Island, and are taught by Rick and Maria Thomas, who are the founders of the Zentangle Method. These classes  fill up quickly with students from all over the world. Last year, I was put on the wait list. This year, I received notice that I had been accepted, which was great news!  I look forward to sharing my love for this art form in basic beginner, shading/3D effects, using color, and other advanced type classes.’

Whether you’re looking for a chance to “get your zen on”, express yourself creatively, or work on fine motor skills, Zentangle is a great way to spend an evening!
