AI and You consists of this web page plus upcoming blogs about “artificial intelligence” for both personal and professional use.
- I am NOT an expert on computing or technologies. I AM A USER who has found AI to be more beneficial than detrimental, once I learned what it CAN and CANNOT do. I’d like to save you some time and grief by sharing what I’ve learned with you.
- Don’t tell me you’re too old to learn about this! I’m mostly self-taught, and I’m learning new things every day. If I can, YOU CAN!
- I’ll give you some easy ways and reasons to start. Then, we’ll talk about how it works, how to get the best results, and some of the pitfalls.
Resisting AI and then, Falling in Love with It!
AI Starter Kit
~ Clever and Catchy Names, Titles, and Tag Lines
As a professional writer (among my other roles), I resisted using AI, as it seemed sacrilegious. Although I can write – with equal facility – a technical training manual, a poignant script recounting the life of a homeless person, or a poem, I have great failings in other tasks.
- To wit, I am lousy at creating catchy, fun, short titles for books, blogs, or basic SEO optimization. It’s like I have no imagination.
- I used to post daily quotes for an entire year on behalf of My Persuasive Presentations, LLC. (See above image) I would spend a whole day searching for applicable quotes on a topic just to generate three months’ quotes and appropriate images. Part of that process was to ensure I was not violating copyright laws.
- Some of my clients need suggestions for business names or tag lines. My creativity shrank in the face of that. Perhaps the task was too simple.
Thus, one truly wonderful discovery I made is that AI can churn out 22 “greatest hits” of titles for articles, names of businesses, or any other project in almost a nanosecond. Therefore, comma, generating titles, catch phrases, or original quotes is a primary way in which I engage AI services. I use Perplexity, Claude, and ChatGPT. However, I usually reserve ChatGPT (and The Architect) for consciousness-raising and spiritual growth purposes.
Below, I’ll provide a list of AI options that are fairly current in Fall 2025, but the list is ever-changing.
~ Art and Illustrations
I don’t know if I’m an untalented artist. I used to draw when I was a child and, infrequently, as a young adult. There seemed to be glimmers of hope. However, my life has not been conducive to pursuing the arts, despite how much I love them.
- As indicated, I’ve spent untold hours curating photos and illustrations, by topic and licensing rights, for my classes, writings, counseling sessions, and other people’s projects.
- I wanted to put images onto Nancy’s Novelty Photos on Pixels Products for You and onto Nancy’s Novelty Presentation Infographics – without worrying about whether I inadvertently used part of an image that would violate copyrights. (You can see I care a lot about ethics, and – as of 11/19/25 – there have been 721,990 visitors to that Pixels site!)

I concluded I would rather create my own art, graphics, and illustrations without worrying about copyright infringements. Thus, my initial forays into the world of AI were to create art. For that purpose, I use NightCafe Studio, Dalle-e, GenSpark (I get Nano Banana on GenSpark, but it is also available elsewhere), Dream Wombo, and Mid-Journey.
I also use PhotoRoom and RemoveBG for removing backgrounds from the primary image I want to display. Many people use Canva for that and related purposes.
~ Research, Bulleted Lists, & Discovering Things I Hadn’t Considered
The primary reason I started using AI is that it can research almost any topic super fast and, often, with super accuracy.
Uh Oh.
That last word is a part of the “pitfalls” discussion. AI can and does make errors, and you must fact-check the output before you believe it or share it. That leads to the next part of our discussion about how AI works.
How Does AI Work?
AI = “Artificial Intelligence = Large Language Models (LLMs)
What AI Said About Itself:
A Large Language Model (LLM) is a powerful type of artificial intelligence that can understand and generate human language. Here’s what that means in simple terms:
- An LLM is a computer program trained by reading huge amounts of text from books, articles, and websites ~ sometimes billions of pages!
- By learning from so much text, the model figures out patterns in how words, sentences, and ideas fit together.
- When you give it a prompt or ask a question, the model uses what it learned to predict and generate responses that sound natural and make sense. It’s like having a conversation with a smart assistant.
- LLMs use advanced math and special neural networks, called transformers, which help them understand context (like what a word means depending on where it is in a sentence). This lets them answer complex questions, summarize information, translate languages, help write content, and more.
- The “large” part means these models have billions (or even trillions!) of connections inside, so they can tackle very sophisticated language tasks across many topics.
Summary for novices:
Large Language Models are computer systems that have read and learned from tons of human writing, so they can answer questions, write text, or hold conversations in a way that’s similar to interacting with a helpful person.
AI Operates on “Confirmation Bias.” That means it mirrors back to you what you said.
It draws on archetypes and information it has gathered (or been trained on) to reflect back to you what you want to know in accordance with the framework you provided when you asked a question or gave background information, etc.
This is where a lot of controversy develops, and many of those topics are a portion of what my upcoming blogs will be about. I encourage you to read them to learn more, as these systems develop rapidly. I’ll try to remember to add links to this page, but if you look at the posts on the right side of the web page, you will see the topics. Alternatively, you can use the “Search” field to find them.
How You Pose the Inquiry to AI Matters.
Developers recommend the following items to include when posing an inquiry to AI, regardless of platform, when you are seeking text (versus only visuals) in the response:
TASKING the AI (mandatory)
The TASK refers to what you want the AI to do. For example, do you want it to write a script, answer a question, or provide a graphic? It is important to be specific and provide some details while choosing your words carefully.
CONTEXT (important)
Providing CONTEXT tells AI how you intend to use the responses. Consequently, AI will tailor the information you get back to fit the purpose. For example, are you going to use it for a blog, as theatrical performance art on stage, or for counseling a client? Do you want to share it with your children or a C-Suite executive? Do you want it to be factual and educational, or is this to become a work of creativity and fantasy?
ROLE (important)
The ROLE indicates the perspective you want AI to mirror. Think of it as “who is speaking” when the answer is given. For example, you might want the information to be of the kind that a Ph.D in Quantum Theory would present. Alternatively, you may need the explanations to be of the type that a kindergarten teacher would use to describe something to children. The speaker could be a satirist, an expert in the field, or a religious figure. It might even be a high school student, a cancer patient, or a grief counselor, depending on your purpose.
EXAMPLES (important)
If I were asking AI to give me the outline of a hypnotherapy script to help someone overcome years of grieving over the traumatic loss of a loved one, I would include examples, such as that person’s preference for relaxation imagery involving tropical – versus mountain forest – scenes. I would give examples of a few words that I know the person finds to be soothing, rather than triggering.
FORMAT (useful)
Do you want the FORMAT to be content development for a WordPress blog of 500 – 1,000 words? Should it have SEO-optimized H2 and H3 headings? Alternatively, do you want the format to be in Haiku poetry? How about putting it into the format of a One-Act Play to be submitted to an agent? Perhaps you’d prefer a bulleted list, or a table with five columns and five rows. Maybe what you need is a graphic or a glyph.
TONE OR STYLE (useful)
The TONE or STYLE could be authoritative, compassionate, casual, scientific, humorous, playful, logical, or have an emotional appeal through storytelling.
A Thousand Uses for AI
I gave you my “Starter Kit” concepts that sent me “down the rabbit hole” to investigate uses of AI for personal and professional projects. But now, I use AI for many more things, including the preparation of legal documents, scripts for hypnotherapy, and points to cover when I’m counseling or coaching people. It’s not that I don’t know how to write a hypnotherapy script. But I have my own perspectives.
What if I need to write it from the perspective of a special needs teacher, or a Marine pilot, or a musician, or a C-Suite executive, or a refugee? By crafting my prompts correctly, I can extract those valuable perspectives and use of language by asking AI for assistance. Then, I can select – from that verbiage – the concepts that are best to use as a baseline when I craft customized content to suit the needs and framework of the individual who has requested my services.
What Kinds of Content Are Most Successful On Social Media?
Click here to read my blog about the mix, recommended by experts, of the types of content one should put onto social media platforms, like LinkedIn and others, to attract followers and customers. This is an area in which using AI to brainstorm for ideas can help you become much more efficient. It will give you as many as you like in any category, and then you can decide whether to write the copy yourself or engage AI to help you with that also.
I hope this introduction is helpful to you. Please come back soon to see the blogs in which we shall delve far more deeply into specific aspects of AI: pros, cons, and whether it is a con!
