Poetry & Pictures Using Prompts
Poetry & Picture prompts
promote propagation of peculiar posts
for pleasure.
In my case, they’re not well-crafted, as I do them very fast (five minutes max) before moving on to “real work.” However, perhaps sharing a few samples will inspire you to do some and to do them better! Below are some “Oldies” that are not necessarily “Goodies.” Note: Sometimes, I created more than one poem, using the same prompt.
The images are items that I photographed, created using AI, or got from Pixabay with the right to use them.
Enjoy!
Poetry & Pictures ~
Prompt = #marshmallow #tanka
***
November Reverie for Squash Blossoms
The fields lie fallow.
So, dance the saltarello.
Choose to be mellow,
Lips powdered with #marshmallow.
Next year’s crop will bloom yellow.
Prompt = #odd
***
How Odd?
People find me odd
And it’s true that I smile and nod,
Knowing a secret of the god
Lying deep inside my bod
Within which my Soul is shod –
Free From Intended Harm.
Poetry & Pictures ~
Prompt = #peripheral #Haiku
***
Who Am I Now?
My LIFE has become
#PERIPHERAL and useless
I miss the old ME.
Poetry & Pictures ~
Prompt = #peripheral
***
Peripheral
Your peripheral glance at me
Flutters my latent urgings.
I know that glance.
I know it well.
I gave it to you first.
You Don’t Always Need Prompts to Compose
***
Sand and Silt
It’s the difference between sand and silt
Between boulders and pebbles
Between mist and rain, sleet and blizzard
Between water in a hot tub and water in dry ice.
But, it’s all still LOVE.
In all its forms
And ways of conquering the intended recipient.
Nature rules.
You WILL succumb.
Poetry and Pictures –
Prompt = #tacky
***
That Girl
Her summer skin was #tacky enough for a Post-it note to stick to her forehead.
The fact she would display that at a formal ball where I had to wear a tuxedo
Told me her personality was tacky, despite the Vera Wang.
That girl is not for me.
Poetry & Pictures ~
Prompt = #tender
***
Tender Feelings
What could possibly #prompt me to fall in love with you?
You are decades older than I!
You come from a culture whose traditions would smother me dead!
You cannot take care of me in any way except to love me back.
Instead, I would see you through infirmity and death in my youth.
And yet, the brilliance of your mind and soul
Streak through all barriers, shattering them like fragile glass.
I do love you #tender.
Again, not all poetry stems from prompts.
For example, “Aging” engenders evolving demands and accompaniment in thoughts.
As The Body Ages
Taut, tense, rigid, inflexible, crying out for help
These are the muscles and tendons now glued to each other
Rendering them movable only by painful exertion.
As I stretch to find my arms and legs,
I feel them yanking on bones, trying to straighten.
The fascia – too shrunken to be pliable with ease –
Screech in resistance – but succumb – remembering.
I was a dancer. An Athlete. Young once.
I could astound the people.
Lithe, graceful, bendable into contortion.
An arabesque poses in front of my mind
In remembrance.
Childhood
Three daughters and a wife
Drove my father crazy!
He wanted a son
But I was born.
Perhaps that’s why he called me,
“Nancy Pranks.”

Please Answer Me!
Can we do it better now –
Live life in harmony –
Now that you have long since passed away?
You beckon me to you
and suggest through others that I should ask for your help.
What is it with which you can help me?
What should I ask?
Why Didn’t She Leave Him?
Divorce was unthinkable.
Women had a duty
and also
Could not qualify for credit cards or housing
Without a husband’s or father’s
Signature of approval
On all applications.
Poetry & Pictures ~
Prompt = #sterling #Haiku #True Story
My #sterling trait is
unfailing ability
to see your Beauty.
